The Bookmark was established in 1994 by Eric Vardy a retired Police Inspector in Leicestershire and having already got strong roots in community life want to take this into his business. Eric soon found his feet and was a Town Councillor in the past and went on to set up the Chamber of Trade for Syston, indeed the chamber has a good representation in the town and if anyone want to know more then to drop in to see him.

A community based book store offering freindly and efficent service to the public, local businesses and schools. We offer a range of services including: -
- Large selection of fiction and non-fiction books
- Fast ordering services (normally within 24 hours)
- A dedicated school supply service
- A good range of Classic and budget CD's
- A large selection of high quality greeting cards for the discerning buyer
- Large section of children's books
We support local schools and colleges by offering a personal service and author signing visits if possible, also supplying books to them.
We have a selection of budget and classical CD's on offer on the 1st floor and have a range of instrument tutorials and music books for all. There is a 2nd hand section of books at great prices.
We are now selling a complete range of artists paints, boards, brushes and stands, we stock starter packs for new budding artists.
Our fine selection of greeting cards are now available.

New World Florist is owned and run by Gill Bolton and is based in Birstall just outside of Leicester off the A6
We specialise in flowers for weddings and funerals as well as providing all of the bunches and bouquets you'd expect from a local florist.
