Help on Trading with India

More companies from across the region will now be able to access specialist support and advice through the East Midlands India Business Bureau (EMIBB) to help them do business with India. East Midlands Development Agency (emda) has recently announced an investment of almost £900k over the next three years to ensure that the regional economy will benefit from the country’s rapid growth.
The Bureau has taken over from and expanded the role of the former Leicester India Trade Bureau, maximising the strong links already in place. It is organising regional trade missions to India and will host business delegations from India whose representatives are keen to develop investment, trade, educational and tourism links within the East Midlands.

The EMIBB will also enable firms to access a range of services and support. This will include advice on their growth strategies and tailored market research to help them find appropriate partners to invest with in India. Universities seeking joint ventures to develop technological or research and development activities are also able to access specific expertise.

Helen Deas, recently appointed by emda to head up the East Midlands India Bureau, commented: “This emda and UKTI market visit will provide a fantastic opportunity for companies from across the region to engage with rapidly developing India, projected to be the world’s third largest economy by 2050. Business with India is through personal contacts – you have to meet people to develop your opportunities. A mission is the ideal way to visit – the organisation is done, contacts lined up and exchanges with others accelerate entry into this challenging but rewarding market.”

To find out how you can get involved in future market visits, or for more information about EMIBB, contact Helen Deas on 0116 258 7328 / helendeas@emd.org.uk or Mahendra Mistry on 0116 259 7327 / mahendramistry@emd.org.uk
