CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace

This Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is suitable for all employees.

The course is aimed specifically at persons who have not previously received any formal Health and Safety training. The Certificate is nationally recognised and the course is run locally by the Environmental Health staff in the Commercial Group.

The overall aim is to develop a level of understanding of the basic principles of Health and Safety. Successful completion of the training programme and assessment will enable candidates to understand:

  • Health and safety requirements placed on employers and employees
  • Hazard and risk and the main causes of harm to workers
  • Health, safety and welfare provisions in the workplace
  • The importance of following safe systems of work, procedures and rules
  • Hazards and controls in respect to both safety and occupational health risks
  • How their own actions can reduce risks to health and safety.

An examination paper which consists of thirty multiple choice questions concludes the course. Candidates with reading difficulties may be read the question on a one to one basis. Candidates who achieve 20 or more correct answers will pass the examination and receive a CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace Certificate.

Courses are held at Southfield Offices on two half days or one day (including the short examination). The fee is £42.00 per person (including VAT), no discounts are available.
