Two LSEP Board Members receive honorary degrees from University of Leicester

The University of Leicester celebrated the achievements of fourteen people who have distinguished themselves locally, nationally and internationally, at its degree congregations between 8th-11th July.

Eleven people received honorary degrees, two of which are LSEP Board members, Philip Hammersley, CBE, CEng, MIMechE (Doctor of Laws) and Freda Hussain, MBE (Doctor of Laws). The awards were presented at the De Montfort Hall, Leicester, before students and their families from around the world. All Honorary Graduates are renowned in their fields, spanning the worlds of art, politics, the Church, astronomy, academia, public service, literature, health, education and business.

8th Special Olympics GB National Summer Games 2009 - Leicester - 25th to 31st July 2009

The 8th Special Olympics GB National Summer Games 2009 will take place in Leicester between 25th and 31st July 2009. Involving 2700 athletes, 1200 coaches, 1500 volunteers, 6,000 families, 21 sports and 7 days of achievements, there are lots of ways you can get involved.

This will help immensely in raising the profile of the games with supporters and will help drive traffic to the SOL 2009 website and involvement with the Games through volunteering, fundraising and to educate people about the abilities of people with learning disabilities.
